We went to the play Decadence at the Intimate Theatre on the University of Cape Town Orange Street campus on Saturday 17th April 2010. It was delightful!
The play by Steven Berkoff focuses on the love affairs of two British couples with very different background and education. None of them can resist the temptations of illicit sex, food, smoking and money. They live out their fantasies in a cleverly choreographed and well coordinated set piece. They are rude, crude, bitchy and funny.
Scott Sparrow and Emily Child work incredibly well together with only a sofa on the stage. They are quick and convincing. My only criticism is that Emily’s upper class British accent was poor.
A very entertaining evening.
