My better travelled friends probably already know about Punta del Este but for me it was a revelation. Our cruise stopped there on 22nd January 2020
On 20th January 2020 we did a tour of the highlights of Buenos Aires. It included the new symbol of the city, a metal flower.
Tibby l and I arrived in Sao Paulo, Brazil for a two day stay on 17th January 2020. China is the third largest country in the world, followed by the USA, Brazil and then Australia, which means Brazil is a very big country.
Juls, our daughter, and I, participated in a seven day photography, walking holiday in Scotland which commenced on 12th October 2019.
In September 2019 I drove from Livingstone in Zambia, circumnavigated the Kariba Dam, went through Hwange National Park into Botswana, had two days in the Tuli Block, one day in Khutse National Park and then drove to Cape Town.
In April and May 2019, I drove from Cape Town to Rundu in Namibia, where I joined a group led by Live the Journey for a two-week road trip in Angola.
In September and October 2017 my wife, Tibby, and I did a forty-four-day 6,500 km trip from Cape Town, through Namibia and back to Cape Town.
I hiked the Green Mountain Trail in the Elgin Valley near Cape Town from 18th March to 22nd March 2013.
Edinburgh in August is a wonderful place. We were in Edinburgh from Saturday 18th August 2012 to Tuesday 28th August and attended the following events.
We are attending 40 events at the Edinburgh Fringe and Book festivals and the Edinburgh Tattoo this year
We were immersed in history as we walked from Covent Garden to The Royal Courts of Justice in London on 26th July 2011.
The Guardian Newspaper’s Head of Photography and Guardian photographer David Levene on 3rd March 2011 at the National Portrait Gallery in London. The presentation by the Guardian Eyewitness Photo Editor was wonderful
We went to see The Children’s Hour at the Comedy Theatre in London on 28th February 2011. After a very slow start this play stormed to the finish.
We liked the Pinotage and Malbec at Neethlingshof Wine Estate
Five of us ate at Carne in Cape Town on 23rd December 2010. As always the meat was superb. The steaks at Carne are very special.
We enjoyed the Rubaiyat 2007 and Merlot 2008 at De Grendel Wine Estate
Tibby and I travelled 1,400kms in 27 hours on the Blue Train from Pretoria to Cape Town on 13th and 14th December 2010. The Blue Train is a luxury train that was not as good as it should have been.
